Trans- Canada Highway

The Trans- Canada Highway

Right now we are in the planning stages of Bolt Across Canada. We are intending to begin our road trip in late June. Part of the planning for our trip is mapping a rough route to follow.

Buddy would like to drive the Trans-Canada Highway. The Trans- Canada highway is the longest highway in the world, stretching from St John's to Victoria. Our trip will begin in Victoria.

It's hard to imagine that it was only in 1942 that it was possible to drive completely across Canada on Canadian roads.

In 1946, R.A. MacFarlane made Canadian transportation history when he dipped the front wheels of his six- cylinder Cheverolet in the Pacific Ocean, nine days and 7,636 km. after leaving Louisbourg Nova Scotia.

In 2012, Mark Richardson driving a Chevy Camaro to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the official opening of the Trans-Canada highway drove from coast to coast dipping his wheels at Mile Zero in Victoria.

In 2017, we will be dipping the wheels of our Chevy Bolt in The Pacific Ocean, as we begin our road trip across Canada in our electric vehicle.

Stay tuned to our adventures as we Bolt Across Canada.
